The staff of Millennium Group of Indiana has a
combined 80 years of experience in the LTL (less than truck load)
Industry. This will benefit your company, as our customer, by insuring
that you are getting the best possible pricing and value for your
LTL shipments.
Utilizing creative methods of transportation such as 3 Tier F.A.K.
(freight of all kinds), and pricing discounts which are based
on higher shipment volume, Millennium can move your freight in
the most cost efficient manner possible.
Freight Classifications
According to the National
Motor Freight Traffic Association, "the
National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) is a pricing tool that
provides a comparison of commodities moving in interstate, intrastate
and foreign commerce. It is similar in concept to the groupings
or grading systems that serve many other industries. Commodities
are grouped into one of 18 classes—from a low of class 50
to a high of class 500—based on an evaluation of four transportation
characteristics: density, stowability, handling and liability. Together,
these characteristics establish a commodity’s “transportability.”
As mandated by the Surface Transportation Board of the U. S. Department
of Transportation, for classification purposes all commodities are
evaluated on the basis of the four transportation characteristics
and ONLY on the basis of those four characteristics. The NMFC thus
provides both carriers and shippers with a standard by which to
begin pricing negotiations and greatly simplifies the comparative
evaluation of the many thousands of products moving in today’s
competitive marketplace."
Millennium Group of Indiana will assist our customers in finding
their appropriate freight classifications. This will ensure compliance
with the carrier’s terms and conditions, as well as ensuring
that your product is adequately insured while in transit.
Three Tier F.A.K.
A three tier FAK is where a freight company will reduce the actual
class of the freight to a lower class. For instance, your commodity
is typically shipped at a class 65, but under the Millennium pricing,
this would be decreased to a class 50. The classification breaks
for our freight are as follows:
Class 50 through 65 are shipped at Class 50
Class 70 through 95 are shipped at Class 70
Class 100 through 150 are shipped at Class 100
Anything over Class 150 is shipped at its actual class.
Pricing Discounts
Most LTL carriers figure their pricing structure on base rates and
then applying a discount. The discounts offered by these carriers
depend upon the volume of shipments you have.
Utilizing the shipment volume for all of our customers, Millennium
is able to negotiate top tier discounts. These savings are passed
onto your organization, allowing you to become more competitive
with your pricing, and possibly turning freight into a profit center
for your company.
For this service Millennium Group guarantees that we will only
use known trucking companies so that you can rest assured that a
reputable company is handling and delivering your freight.
